Got a mouse-gun dilemma?

I came across this ad in this month's American Rifleman. Gee, to what could they be referring?

I just read the LCP recall statement, and they had this to add in true Don't Blame Me fashion:

We want to remind gun users that, for maximum safety when carrying any pistol with a loaded magazine in place, the chamber should be empty, and the slide should be closed. Any gun may fire if dropped or struck.Pretty much good enough for me to never own a Ruger. Clearly, they know two things about CCW: Jack, and Shit.

I feel a blog post coming...

You'll find such a sentiment in just about any firearm manufacturer's literature, owner's manuals included. They tend to approach safety primarily from the sporting angle, which dictates not loading the chamber until you're preparing to fire. This will be true in particular with guns that don't have firing-pin safeties such as the LCP and P-3AT.

It's in the same vein as carrying a revolver with an empty chamber under the hammer. This is not necessary on most modern revolvers with hammer-block mechanisms, but it's still often the "common wisdom."
